Kilo Coffee University Park Review: A Perfect 5/5

Kilo in University Park earned a perfect 5 out of 5 from me, and it's an easy GO. Food, drinks, ambience and service all got a 5, and I'm still thinking about the toasted milk latte.

When Kilo first opened, everyone was talking about it, and I'll admit I wondered if it could live up to the hype. It did. If you're near Snider Plaza or SMU and you need a coffee you'll actually remember, this is where I'd send you.

The vibe

Ambience scored a 5. Here's my honest take: after the hype died down, the ambience became pretty chill, and I mean that as a good thing. It's a calmer spot now, which makes it nicer to sit with your drink, catch up with a friend, or get a little work done.

If you tried to go during the opening rush and gave up, now is a great time to give it another shot.

What to order

Drinks got a 5, and the one I'd tell you to order is the toasted milk latte. It's one of those drinks that stays with you after you finish it, and I've been tempted to go back just for that.

Kilo is also on my map for matcha, so if you're more of a matcha person than a coffee person, you're covered too.

Food also scored a 5. Coffee is the headline here, but everything I had held up to the same standard.

Something special

What makes Kilo stand out is the way they make their coffee. It's a very special process, unlike any other coffee shop I've ever been to. A lot of coffee shops start to blur together after a while. This one doesn't.

If you love coffee, watching how they make your drink is half the fun, so don't just grab it and run.

Service

Service got a 5 too. Everyone was great, and it added to how good the whole visit felt.

Tips

Go for the coffee and the matcha.

Order the toasted milk latte on your first visit. It's my favorite thing there.

If crowds stress you out, go now that the opening buzz has calmed down. It's much more relaxed.

The verdict

Kilo in University Park is a 5/5 GO. It's for coffee lovers, matcha fans, and anyone who wants a coffee shop that does things differently. Order the toasted milk latte, take a minute to watch how it's made, and enjoy the chill vibe now that the hype has settled.

This is the shop I bring up when people ask me where to get a really good latte in Dallas. It earned that spot.
