Musume Dallas Review: Sushi That Rivals Uchi

Musume in Dallas might be my favorite sushi spot in the city right now, and it scored a 4.9 out of 5 from me. It's a big GO. Drinks, ambience and service all got a perfect 5, and the food came in at 4.7.

The sushi was so flavorful and so high quality that I'm going to say something bold: the raw fish here and at Uchi are fairly close in how delicious they were. If you love sushi and you live in or around Dallas, put Musume on your list.

The vibe

Ambience got a 5. It's a beautiful space and it feels like a special night out, which matches the $$$ price. This is a place you dress up for a little, whether it's a date night or dinner with friends you haven't seen in a while.

The whole experience feels intentional, from the room to the way the food comes out. It's the kind of spot that makes a regular weeknight feel like an occasion.

The food

Food scored a 4.7, and the sushi is the reason. Everything raw was fresh, flavorful and clearly high quality. This is where Musume shines, and it's what I'd build my whole order around.

Now for the honest part. We also ordered steak, and it was very average compared to the rest of the food. It wasn't bad, it just didn't stand out next to the sushi. So my advice is simple: steak may not be their strength, so when you go, focus on the sushi.

And save room for dessert. We had a cheesecake tempura that was out of this world. I didn't know I needed fried cheesecake in my life until that night.

Drinks

Drinks got a perfect 5, and I want to call out the mocktails in particular. Musume has great mocktails on the menu, which I really loved. It's rare to find a nice restaurant that puts real effort into non-alcoholic drinks, so this was a big plus for me.

If you do drink, the cocktail menu is part of the fun too. Either way, nobody at the table gets stuck with a plain soda.

Service

Service also scored a 5. At this price point you expect to be taken care of, and we were. It made the whole dinner feel smooth from start to finish.

Tips

Go for the sushi and the drinks. That's what Musume does best.

Skip the steak and put that money toward more sushi.

Order the cheesecake tempura for dessert. Trust me.

It's $$$, so plan it for a date night, an anniversary, or a dinner you want to feel special.

The verdict

Musume in Dallas is a 4.9/5 GO. It's for sushi lovers, date nights, and anyone who wants a special dinner with great mocktails on the menu. Order the sushi, skip the steak, and finish with the cheesecake tempura. Expect $$$ prices and some of the best raw fish I've had in Dallas.

If you've been to Uchi and loved it, I think you'll understand why I'm comparing the two. Go see for yourself.
