Pan Pan Arlington Review: Mexican and Japanese Pastries
Pan Pan in Arlington scored a 4.88 out of 5 from me, and it's a big GO. Food, drinks and service all got a perfect 5, and ambience came in at 4.5.
What makes it special is the way it blends Mexican and Japanese culture into its coffee and pastries. No other coffee shop I've tried in DFW does anything like it. The quality of everything was so good that I honestly wish I could try the whole menu.
The vibe
Ambience scored a 4.5, and the decor is beautiful. It's a lovely place to sit down with your drink and a pastry, take pictures, and slow down for a bit.
It's the kind of spot you want to bring a friend to just to watch their face when they see the pastry case.
The pastries
Food got a 5. The pastries are the main event: unique Japanese and Mexican pastries that you really can't find anywhere else around here. If you grew up with pan dulce, you'll recognize the comfort of it, and then the Japanese side takes it somewhere new.
My advice: go with someone so you can order more than one and share. Picking just one is the hardest part of the visit.
Coffee and matcha
Drinks also scored a 5. The coffee and matcha flavors are as creative as the pastries, so don't just order your usual. Try one of their flavored drinks and pair it with a pastry.
I'm putting Pan Pan on my map for coffee and pastries, because the two together are what make this place worth the trip.
Service
Service got a 5. Everyone was great, and it made the whole visit feel welcoming.
Tips
Go for the coffee and the pastries. That's the whole reason to come.
Plan ahead: when I went, they weren't open on Sundays. I'd love to see them open on Sundays so more people can try it, so check their hours before you head out.
Bring a friend and share a few pastries so you can taste more of the menu.
It's a $$ spot, so it's easy to treat yourself.
Wishes for Pan Pan
I'm honestly begging them to expand to a new location, because more people need to know about this place. It deserves a bigger audience, and I'd love to have one closer to me too.
The verdict
Pan Pan in Arlington is a 4.88/5 GO. It's for pastry lovers, coffee and matcha fans, and anyone who wants to try something you won't find anywhere else in DFW. Order a flavored latte or matcha, get at least two pastries, and take your time enjoying the decor. Expect $$ prices, and check the hours before you go.
This is one of my favorite coffee shops in the whole metroplex, and I'm happy to drive for it.
