Xumak Arlington Review: Good Chilaquiles, Slow Service

Xumak Mexican Cuisine in Arlington scored a 3.25 out of 5 from me, and it's a SKIP. Food and drinks each got a 4, ambience got a 3, and service got a 2.

If you want to try good food, the chilaquiles were actually good. But I'd tell you to go with low expectations for the experience, because the wait was long and the service wasn't great.

The food

Food scored a 4. The chilaquiles were the bright spot, and I'm putting Xumak on my map for chilaquiles. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing.

The vibe

Ambience got a 3. It's fine for a casual meal, but nothing about the space stood out to me.

Service (the honest part)

Service got a 2, and this is why it's a SKIP. The wait times were long and the service was bad. I really wish it were better, because the food was good. Until the service improves, I won't be back, and I won't recommend it to friends.

Drinks

Drinks scored a 4. They were good, but they couldn't make up for the wait.

The verdict

Xumak Mexican Cuisine in Arlington is a 3.25/5 SKIP. The chilaquiles are good, and it's a $$ spot, but long waits and bad service made the whole visit frustrating. If they fix the service, I'd happily give it another try. For now, I'd look at the other chilaquiles spots on my map.
